Lady Day is an annual event for the Mother’s Union (MU Australia) who formally adopted the feast day: Annunciation to the Blessed Virgin Mary as its yearly day of prayer, intercession and thanksgiving.
Mothers’ Union branches, both in Australia and around the world, also gather in celebration.
Wave Of Prayer For 100 years this year, since the end of the First World War, Mother’s Union have celebrated the annual Wave of Prayer. Each country and diocese have an allocated time so, for one hour, everyone prays for families all around the world. The Wave of Prayer takes place annually during the first Thursday of March. About the Wave of Prayer .
In August we celebrate MARY SUMNER DAY. Mary Sumner is the founder of Mothers’ Union. We celebrate her insight and perceptiveness in seeing what was needed and recognising the means by which the need could be met. Across the globe the 4 million members of Mothers’ Union celebrate the life and faith of our founder. We pray for the mission of Mothers’ Union as lived in so many countries. Mary Sumner’s life showed clearly her belief in the vocation to prayer and the call to social action that flowed from it. These are the foundations on which MU has been built.
